Behaviour
Many people live with problems with their pets unaware that they are often quite simple to resolve resulting in a closer, more satisfying relationship for both pet and owner.

Communication between owner and pet can break down leading to all sorts of problems, these might range from ‘control’ problems such as not coming when called or pulling on the lead to more serious problems including fears and phobias and aggression.

Range of Behaviour problems:

There are as many potential problems as there are dogs and cats!

Common behaviour problems found amongst dogs include:
•    Aggression both towards other dogs and people
•    Separation problems
•    Destructiveness
•    Toileting problems
•    Excessive barking
•    Nervousness, fears and phobias
•    Excessive territoriality
•    Car problems
•    Livestock chasing
•    Self-mutilation

Example Consultation 2 - case history of a dog with an inter-dog aggression problem

Common behaviour problems found amongst cats include:
•    Toileting including spraying and marking
•    Aggression
•    Problems between cats in the same household
•    Problems with other cats in the neighbourhood
•    Excessive vocalisation
•    Self-mutilation

Example Consultation 1 - case history of a cat with a toileting problem

These behaviours are normal behaviours for dogs and cats, only becoming 'problems' when they occur in inappropriate situations.

The key to resolving these problems is to understand the motivation for the behaviour from the animals' point of view. This allows for behaviour therapy to take place in a 'language' the animal will understand using modern reward based methods.

Contact me for a no obligation chat or to arrange a Consultation and together we can resolve the problem.

Having been controlled and manipulated by larger than life Collie X for about 12 years I decided that enough was enough and returned to college to study for the Advanced Study Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling at Southampton University. I helped pay my way through college by working as a dog walker. Since graduating in 2004 I have been training dogs and sorting out pet behaviour problems in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, the West-Midlands and The Borders. I gained full membership of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors in 2007 and I was made a full member of the UK Registry of Canine Behaviourists in 2010. I regularly attend workshops and seminars to keep up to date with new developments. I have become well established within the Veterinary community of Shropshire and many clients are able to claim my fee through their pet insurance. I live with my human family plus two Dogs, Cat and Guinea Pigs in Shrewsbury.
